Microsoft Exchange server 2019 extended support ends this year on the 14th of October along with exchange server 2016. Microsoft are forcing the everyone to be on the latest exchange 2019 CU from this date.

After these dates, users will be able to in place upgrade to exchange SE edition, but not doing will mean no further security updates, bug fixes, or technical support, posing serious risks to businesses still relying on these platforms.

What does this mean for your business?

Running unsupported Exchange servers leaves organisations exposed to cybersecurity threats, compliance issues, and potential operational disruptions. Without critical updates, businesses are more vulnerable to ransomware, data breaches, and email downtime – directly impacting productivity and trust.

To protect your IT infrastructure and future-proof communications, companies should begin planning their upgrade path now. Options include migrating to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online, a cloud-based solution offering enhanced security, scalability, and access from anywhere. Alternatively, businesses may consider transitioning to a hybrid environment or an updated on-premise solution, depending on specific compliance or data residency requirements.
